Food & Dining Neighbourhood News Penrith Shopping Social

The community of Thornton is at the heart of a city that’s coming into its own. And a new look dining scene is just one of the elements driving the transformation.

Recent arrival, Mr Watkins restaurant and bar, is one example of how plates and palates are changing out west.

Owners, Rod Parbery, a Penrith local who earned his stripes in The Ledbury, London, and Wayne Jenkins of Merivale’s Uccello and former owner of Lochiel House, Kurrajong Heights, raised the bar on High Street when they opened their beautifully styled doors late last year. A café by day and restaurant/bar at night, Mr Watkins was recently nominated for the Best Neighbourhood Bar in the Timeout Sydney Bar Awards 2018.
